Have you ever thought of us?

Us being you and me together,

Not, you and me alone.

Us as a couple,

Us joined hand-in-hand,

Us side-by-side,

Us as one.

I think of us as two.

Not, two together,

But two separate.

Two going their own ways.

Opposite ways. Alone.

As us –

we were joined together by marriage

Not by love, not by friendship.

Us – You and me severed,

Not connected

Not by any means or ways.

You live. I live. Us is dying.

Us is dead.

We are dead.

We are UN-US.

Looking back at the years

My heart fills with sorrow

I hold back the tears

And concentrate on tomorrow

Looking at the past

And praying it won’t last

I focus on today

And hope it’ll stay

My happiness with you

Is positively true

And that’s why I’m hesitant

When dealing with the present
